At the start of August teams from all around the world descended upon Welland, Canada, for the polo world championships. Danielle Brain, GB U21 ladies player, gave us some quick feedback on how it all went.
The four Great Britain squads travelled to Welland, Ontario in Canada for the Canoe Polo World Championships. The tournament took place over 6 days with all the GB teams making it into the top half of the draw for the 2
nd round of the competititon.
The GB squad took home two medals, with the U21 Men retaining their World Championship title following a 3-2 win over Germany. Whilst the Senior Women took home the silver medal with a close loss in the final against Germany. The U21 Women finished in 4
th place following two narrow losses to Germany and New Zealand in the semi-final and the 3
rd/4
th playoff respectively. The Senior Men finished in 7
th place with a strong final game against Chinese Taipei.
The championships also saw the German Senior Men take home their first ever World championship title, although they have previously won both World Games and European titles and the German U21 Women took home their 4
th consecutive world championship title.
