Shaft of choice (straight or bent ): VE Aircore pro carbon on straights!

Big volume or tight and technical: oh tricky question, I love both but if pushed it would be big volume but with some nice moves.

Favourite Paddling Spot: Has to be the Tryweryn as it runs most weekends, I can go and playboat, train for a trip, hang out with friends and there are loads of cool moves to be had, no it’s not hard or a classic British river but it’s local and it’s loads of fun!

Achievements: Personal paddling has to be some of the 1st descents that I’ve done in India, Peru and Kenya, getting into Premiere division in slalom, from a work perspective the 9 years coaching the GB freestyle team was awesome, the team took over 30 international medals during my time so I am super proud to have been part of that.

Whats Next... Ambitions / Plans: Off to Greenland sea kayaking this summer, I’ve entered the Sickline race so am training hard for that and hoping for a Mexico white water trip at the end of the year.

Best things about paddling: Apart from the obvious meeting great people and being in amazing places, you can’t beat the feel of surfing a big wave or carving around the river!

Best Boating Moment: Kayaking the Grand Canyon was so high on my ticklist, and it far exceeded my expectations on so many levels!

Worst Boating Moment: Getting recirculated for a while in a hole on the Colwyn!

Other Hobbies: Mountain biking and Photography

Ultimate Worldwide Destination: Big question!! So far its either the alps for the amount of great rivers in a relatively small area or India for the variety of cultures and multiday rivers.

Favourite Stuff:

Food: Sea food

Drink: Red Wine

Music: anything with a filthy Bassline!

Movie: Star wars, any of them

Read: Living the best day ever by Hendri Coetze

Heros: Dave Manby for so many 1st descents back in the day and still going strong, EJ and Corran Addison for all things freestyle, Ben Marr currently for pushing WW so hard across all styles of paddling

Villans: I stay clear of these types!
