Peak Paddlesports donates to Cromford Mills Water Power Project

Cromford Mills is in Peak PS’s blood, it’s always been close to our heartbeat as we’ve grown over the years. Many moons ago we used to be based there, working out of a small unit within the Mills grounds.

More recently we have formed Paddle Peak, which all happens a stone’s throw from the mills over the road at Cromford Wharf. The wharf which Richard Arkwright built to help transport his goods centuries ago.

So, when The Arkwright Society got in touch with us to see if we would donate to the mills to help get the water wheel back up and running it was a no brainer. It shows support to local businesses and aligns with our values of reducing carbon footprint by bringing waterpower back to Cromford Mills.

Pete Astles comments “I’m really proud to support Cromford Mills, they are always supporting us with our endeavours, whether that be helping us run our sale day each year on their grounds or inviting us to the adventure weekend every August which allows us to take hundreds of local kids paddling whilst then not forgetting helping us get Paddle Peak up and running through the use of the canal, river and Gothic building. They inspire us to grow, and it didn’t take much to want to give back in a donation towards the waterwheel project.”

Our donation will help complete work on the final missing section of the wheel. We look forward to seeing the waterwheel turn again, creating green energy for the mill and local area very soon.
