2015 has been a great year for me, I attained my British Canoeing Advance Whitewater Endorsement after working hard the previous years on my coaching at the upper limits of whitewater kayaking. The spring was great as I managed to get to kayak a couple of creeks in Bavaria that I had not paddled for a fair few years and of course our Kayak School here in Austria kept us busy with plenty of kayakers from all around the globe being coached on the world class whitewater that Austria has to offer.

After working on the Peak UK stand at the Kanumesse in Germany I headed off to Peru to lead a trip in and around Cusco and the ancient Inca city of Machu Picchu. Ute then flew out and we kayaked the Colca and Cotahuasi Canyons in southern Peru. These canyons are absolutely stunning and some of the best rivers I have ever kayaked. I have now kayaked the Colca 4 times and the Cotahuasi - which is the deepest canyon in the world - 3 times. We then headed out into the Andes with our truck on a road trip looking for potential rivers for our next kayaking mission to Peru.

In around a months time our award winning film - Good Karma will be shown at this years Kajak Film Festival in Germany. We will also be kayaking around the border of Austria and Bavaria and hopefully there will be some good river levels for Salzkammergut, a region in Austria renowned for its spring creeking. Our Kayak School is already looking good with bookings for the coming spring, summer and early autumn and with a few new courses and trips being offered it will showcase the amazing whitewater we have here in Austria, Bavaria and of course the Engadine region of Switzerland!

It looks as though we will be heading back to South America in the autumn, again after the Kanumesse in Germany, and I am hoping to get back down to Patagonia for some Southern Hemisphere sunshine, fantastic whitewater on the Futaleufu and a few asados washed down with the odd gallon of red wine with Fico in the Monasterio - the name of his home on the banks of the Futaleufu.

Stayed tuned for some more photos and stories…
