It was a late Winter this year in the Tirol Region of Austria. When the sun came out the rivers started to rise and we finally had some snow melt to kayak.

With crystal blue skies and a fresh covering of snow there was an urge to head back up into the mountains for some spectacular ski touring

However, the lure of the river was just too much and with our home river - the Rosanna starting to kick in it was time to go creeking!!

Sigi and his son Damian came for a weekends Introduction to Creeking, it was the first time they had kayaked the steeper rapids. Sigi looked a bit nervous the first time he was about to drop in, though after a few laps he found his rhythm and a big smile was now on his once nervous face!!

His son Damian however, was just taking it all in his stride - nailing the line and showing just what a natural kayaking talent he is!

The Lech River was also starting to rise and Romana was getting back into the rhythm of the river and progressing nicely after learning to kayak with us here in the Arlberg last season.

The Winter made another comeback, dumping ½ metre of snow in the mountains and of course the rain falling further down the valley was feeding the rivers nicely.

It was not long before the sun was back out and with some enthusiastic local kayakers we made the most of the clear blue skies and great levels

The season was starting to shape up to a very good one, more snow arrived over the next few days and the Spring melt was being delayed, but who cared? With great equipment from Peak UK everyone was dry, warm and just loving being in a kayak in spectacular surroundings - of course that is what Austria is about…
