Peak PS Visits PYB

It’s always nice to get out of the office and into the outdoors, even more so when work gets you to places like Plas Y Brenin in North Wales.

Plas Y Brenin is one of our partners and has been since 2017 - Peak UK Joins Forces with PYB

A fabulous venue in the heart of the Eryri National Park, overlooking some amazing peaks including Yr Wyddfa.

The reason for our trip was to align a few elements, one being new kit and looking for feedback, and the second being a 2 day first aid course to keep us updated for all things Paddle Peak.

On arrival we jumped straight into a meeting with some of the paddlesport crew and discussed things around our partnership, having general paddling discussions, drinking nice coffee and handing over some new kit for them to use for the 2025 season.

After that we headed into dinner and settled down into our accommodation. One of the great perks about PYB is you are surrounded by amazing views, but also you are engulfed in mountaineering and paddlesport history. This year will be the 70th year of the centre - what an amazing accomplishment.

Thursday and Friday consisted of a first aid course, joined by other Paddle Peaksters - Melissa, Snakey and Pedro. The course is more than a ‘standard’ first aid course as we need some specifics given the nature or Paddle Peak and working in the outdoors.

The course itself was brilliant, we all left the course more knowledgeable than when we arrived. Meaning we’ll put certain things in place as we go forwards, whether that be at work or on the river bank with Paddle Peak. Always moving forward.

The course was run by Louise Roberston, a fantastic teacher who helped make the learning relevant and fun, always open to be challenged and shared a huge amount of knowledge on all things first aid and working in tricky environments. We'd like to thank the PYB staff for making us all feel very welcome. If you are ever heading that way, don't forget to pop by, even if it's just for a tasty coffee or to book onto one of their amazing courses.
