After the World Cup final in La Seu d'Urgell we are looking back on the 2018 world cup season with our best performing athlete Mallory Franklin.

Favourite K1 wc race 2018:

- Augsburg, I have always loved the course since I was little and to get my first ever kayak medal has to make it my favourite race!

Favourite C1 wc race 2018:

- Seu, I had three really high quality runs which is new for me and I really enjoyed every one and it being the Worlds Venue for next year it was great to have that result on that course

K1 achievement most proud of:

Holding it together in the Seu final, going off last is tough, you can hear all the commentary so you know what the state of racing is and what it is going to take. It is important at that moment to try and remain focused on you and doing the best you can, I feel I managed that which is a big improvement for me.

C1 achievement most proud of:

My Seu final - I was a little too tight on the last up and it was all very close to going wrong but I stayed calm and got myself out of the situation without any 50’s.

Favourite race course 2018:

Has to be Augsburg, I have spent a lot of time there over the years, it is a great venue and is really fun to paddle.

Favourite race city 2018:

This one is between Kraków and Seu, Kraków is a really beautiful city, really easy to get around and amazing food. Then Seu is such a pleasant place to be it’s a really small town you can walk wherever you need to go and the view are stunning! I can’t choose!

Most memorable moment from 2018 world cups:

It was my birthday whilst we were in Liptosky, so after training the team went to a bowling alley which was really fun and then in the evening some of us went out for dinner, it was a really nice day and great way to spend my birthday :)

Mallory won a bronze medal in the world cup K1W final and a Silver medal in the world cup C1W final. She took the second place in the overall world cup standings in 2018.
