PEAK PS Delighted To Retain British Quintet

Posted By: Mark Published: 16/01/2023

Peak PS and canoe slalom go hand in hand. That’s where the quest for good kit all started many moons ago.

Since then, Peak has always been a supporter of individual athletes or in some cases the whole team when it comes to British Canoe slalom. It’s in our blood.

As the sport has grown and the kit has evolved so has the way in which we support our athletes. We are delighted to announce that the following British athletes will be sporting our kit and be part of our Peak PS team for the 2023 season.

Joe Clarke.

Joe has been with us for many, many years now and we couldn’t be happier to retain Joe as he pushes for Paris 2024. Joe, racing in the K1M category, won the Olympic Gold in Rio, wearing our new at the time Racer ST Topdeck and things have never been the same since.

Joe, who has also been ranked world number 1 in the slalom class, enters a critical year in his career which will see it conclude with a home World Championships in Lee Valley. Joe has many medals in his illustrious career, but an individual medal in the slalom category has slipped through his fingers a few times. So, we are looking forward to watching him smash it on home waters. But that can’t be said for Joe in the Kayak Cross slalom, where he will be lined up as a back-to-back World Champion. We’ll be rooting for him to make it a hattrick!

Kimberley Woods.

Olympic Kayak paddler Kim is an individual for the big events. She’s developed a knack for upping her game at just the right time. Developing into a mature paddler in both C1 and K1.

Kim, like all the other British athletes will be locking into Lee Valley WWC over the next few months, making the most of home advantage ahead of the World Championships.

Can she do the triple? (C1, K1 and Kayak Cross) We’re excited to see her take the bull by the horns and give it her best!

Kim also works alongside our next Peakster….

Adam Burgess.

JCB man, yoga fan and cold-water fanatic Adam enters 2023 in a good place. Using valuable knowledge and confidence on the back of his Tokyo Olympic Games exploits. Adam will be hoping to use his pace and Championship final experience to help him become a regular medallist as he enters the peak of career (no pun intended).

Adam is known for his contagious energy, and we have been lucky enough to see him share that with the younger generation, both at his home club Stafford and Stone also attending a Paddle Peak session at Cromford Mills with the next team member…

Chris Bowers.

Another Stafford and Stone CC member, Chris is one of the babies of the Peak PS team. Into his second year out of the U23 Age Category where he won multiple medals we’re excited to see him break through and show that exciting paddling style on the senior circuit.

Chris who paddlers kayak in both slalom and Kayak Cross, is a Lee Valley local who has negotiated the tricky waters of managing university and full time paddling and is now focused on the next 18 months as things ramp up towards Paris 2024.

An exciting paddler to watch with his aggressive and attacking paddling, Chris’s style suits the Racer ST to the limit. Shall we put him in the Racer ST generation? A generation where you didn’t need to think about a Buoyancy aid and touching poles? They have it easy nowadays….

Mallory Franklin.

The second of the Olympic medallists in the quintet. Mallory won Silver in Tokyo 2 years ago, in the C1 category, using her skills to deliver superb technical skills under pressure.

Mallory who now competes over all 3 categories, like Kimberley, will be using all the information gained last year to see how best to tackle the 3 categories during a packed schedule of racing at International level.

In 2022 Mallory produced some dazzling displays, winnings 4 medals at the European Championships, a Bronze medal in C1 at the World Championships and overall winner of Kayak Cross! So, she’s pretty nifty!

We’ve enjoyed working with Mallory throughout her career and continue to be excited working with her moving into 2023. Her 14th year on the senior circuit!

Please keep an eye on all the athletes on all forms of social media where they share their stories.

Bring on 2023!
