Dave Florence: Euros team review
Multiple World Champion Dave Florence gives us a brief review of Team GB's performance at the recent ECA Euros...
Whilst not everyone came home with medals, there was some great paddling going on from every one of my teammates as the season got underway at the European Championships. Here's a few of the highlights as I saw them:
Mallory, Kim & Sophie
Mallory Franklin: gold in C1, silver in K1 - great finals performances to be back on the podium again.
Kimberley Woods: kept pushing hard all the way despite some difficulties on her final C1 run to earn yet another Europeans podium finish - bronze medal!
Sophie Ogilvie: amazing start to her senior team career making the final at her first ever senior Championship.
Dave & Ryan
Adam Burgess: great final run, only a touch away from sharing the bronze medal.
Ryan Westley: impressive to be in yet another final despite a tough winter battling injury.
Fiona Pennie
Fiona Pennie: strong performance in qualification, and a semi-final time fast enough for 3rd, but two penalties just costing her a place just outside that final.
Bradley, Joe & Chris
Bradley Forbes-Cryans: a solid semi-final time easily good enough for the final, just the slightest of touches costing him that place.
Chris Bowers: straight into first runs qualification with a time good enough for a top 10 placing, just penalties proving costly on this occasion.
Joe Clarke: great pace throughout, only a touch away from a Gold medal.
Will Smith
Will Smith: great paddling for 95% of his first qualification run, with only a couple of small errors costing him a great run and a place in the semi-final.
Lee Valley World Cup is up next starting on the 14th of June. Check out the details here:
