Derwent River Cruise 2026



To commemorate 250 years of the historic Belper Mills, Paddle Peak are organising an on water celebration event. Enjoy a cruise up the River Derwent, from Belper River Gardens to Ambergate and back. Go as fast or as leisurely as you’d like.


When: Saturday 2nd May 2026. 12:00-16:00pm.

Max entries 100. No entries accepted on the day. 

Pre Req. Recommend that all entrants have moving water experience, and use river worthy craft - kayaks, canoes and SUPs are all welcome. Course distance is approximately 6km, a good level of fitness will be required. All participants should be able to swim with confidence. All paddlers must wear PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) that are in good condition, well fitting, and suitable for size and weight of the user. Paddle UK membership or affiliation to a Paddle UK club is required. No unaccompanied under 18s.
