The business end of the competition took place today. Semi Finals in the morning, with the top 10 athletes in each classes progressing through to the afternoons Finals, to contend for the medals and World Championship crowns. In the C2M category, the crews of Stott/Proctor and Florence/Hounslow used all their experience to secure their opportunity in the Final. Burgess/Pitt struggled at the bottom end of a highly technical course finishing 20th. Looking to Team Peak UK interest, the Skantar cousins, were unable to match the pace of the top 10 crews and were a surprise to missed out on the final.

For the K1W category, Britain continued their fantastic form, with all three athletes securing a top 10 finish. Lizzie Neave, Kim Woods and Fiona Pennie would all race in the afternoon to battle it out for the medals.

Emilie Fer collected too many penalties on her Semi Final run, resulting in now final spot for her this time.  Unfortunately the 5 British boas could not translate their previous form into medals. Having strong performances but not quite finding the extra elements in their runs to secure a podium spot.  However the medal opportunities were not over, as the team finals for the C2M and K1W followed. Thankfully the British team sent the crowds away with something to smile about, winning Silver in the K1W teams, and Bronze in the C2M.

Tomorrow its the turn of the K1M, C1M and C1W categories to challenge for both the individual and team medals.
