My desire to go to Canada was first ignited sometime around 2007 or 2008. Many of the top UK paddlers seemed to go out to the Ottawa these two summers. Due to this there were loads of videos and blogs about, including some from former Peak UK team members/legends Dave Bainbridge, Ross Montandon and Joe Bradley. (more…)

Peak UK British Freestyle Championships

Saturday the 10th September saw the Peak UK British Freestyle Championships, a competition where the top British freestyle kayakers fight it out to be crowned the British Champion. 2016 saw the competition return to the world renowned Inlet Gate at Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham. The 2016 event saw over 80 people enter at all various levels of paddling, from novice up to our expert paddlers. (more…)

The Shetland Sea Kayak Symposium

Sid Sinfield arrived on Shetland by air. His bags arrived some while later. This was a relief to all three of us. To celebrate, we sat down to a lard laden fried breakfast and strong coffee whilst making our paddling plan for the day…. (more…)

The isles of Shetland occupy a part of the ocean that seems to get everything thrown at it that mother nature has invented. The coastline is as varied as the weather here.
