ROGER CHANDLER Discipline: Sea Kayaking Professional Partner Living Now: Anglesey, North Wales Current Boats: P & H Cetus MV week to week, plus short over night trips and Explorer HV (NDK) on week/month long trips. Shaft of choice: bent shaft - by Mitchell Blades Achievements: Attaining Level 5 Coach -Sea, being invited out to work on the Aeolian Islands sea kayak symposium, Sicily and a successful circumnavigation of Sicily, Italy (approx 1000k). Solo sea kayaking to the Isles of Scilly, on the longest day and back the following morning (down in the SW, UK) and 4/2011 a successful commercial 1000k paddle around Wales (using the canals inland), with super amazing weather! Whats Next... Ambitions / Plans: Further future trips are to complete a longer open crossing, such as the Irish sea or to the Isle of Man, from Anglesey and to paddle around Ireland, the Queen Charlotte Islands and visits Greenland. Best things about paddling: Surfing a sea kayak on wind generated swell and surf to playing in a tide races / overfall, the peace and calm, sunsets and sunrise, beautiful beaches and being remote, interation with various wild life and sea birds and cooking on driftwood fires. Best Boating Moment: Seeing the moon set and the sunrise, as we paddled out of Milford Haven, Pembroke. Hitting Jack sound on the last two hours of the flood, maxing it across St Brides Bay and a 3 hour rest on Ramsey Island, basking in the sun as we waited for the push of the tide to settle. Ferry gliding across to St Davids Head and being met by a cold wall of Fog and slowly paddling up to Porth Gain, for the night. Finding the restaurant called the Shed open, mugs of tea all round and then a huge plate of fish and chips, washed down with a bottle of beer ... and all in one day! Heros, On and Off the water: Buzz lightyear Other Hobbies: Good food, real ale, a movie and friends. Favourite Stuff:Food: Peanut butter and savory foods, although a good apple pie with vanilia ice cream goes down well!Drink: water ... gin & tonic ... abbot ale ... Music: Frank Sinatra and some Jazz, Coldplay, U2, The Killers, Keane, Jack Johnson, Kate Rushby and Latin American music.
