The Future of our Sport! After posting news pieces from exotic locations, in remote areas or on picturesque Alpine Rivers, the past year has been a great one.
However one of the major highlights definitely has to be coaching the kids on the lake from our local village. For the first time this year we joined together with Hotel Austria in Lech on their active programme for kids and teenagers.
From the moment they all got kitted out and launched onto the water they were loving it. It did not take long for them all to paddle around the lake and with Ute throwing in so many games the smiles on their faces said it all. If that was not enough, the feedback we got from some of the parents and the Hotel certainly made our day.
Kayaking here in the Arlberg Region of Austria is certainly not like the US or even the UK with regards to the amount of boaters you will meet and paddle with. We have some world class rivers here and we pretty much paddle them alone. It is not often you will see another kayaker at the put-in or take-out let alone on the river!
We have spent the past couple of years promoting our sport of kayaking here and with the next generation hooked it can only be a positive thing for not only ourselves, the kayaking industry but also for the local community.
Kayaking is known as the "King of Sports" in the German speaking world, you cannot argue with that!?
