Peak UK on winning form at Paul McConkey Memorial Race

Fresh from battle at the Slalom World Championships the Peak UK slalom team made a successful return to the domestic race calendar in Nottingham last weekend. The HPP artificial slalom course played host to the 7th round of the Premier Division ranking series. The weather was good for racing all weekend with only a little wind and not too hot or cold. A very challenging course was set for qualifying which saw a number of big names fall by the wayside. The Peak UK slalom squad were on solid form though and all athletes present progressed.

Sunday saw a more open racy course set but there was still plenty of technical content to keep racers on their toes with big moves on both the Muncher and the Bottom Stopper.

The Womens K1 class was dominated by Lizzie Neave who won the race ahead of her Peak UK team mate Laura Blakeman in second.

In the Mens K1 race young Peak UK ripper Joe Clarke stepped up his game to take the win. Huw Swetnam raced hard and was only 0.02sec slower than Joe but also collected a 2sec time penalty and so finished third.

The Mens C1 class was a very exciting race, once the dust settled Peak UK had bagged 2nd and 4th places with Dan Goddard and Mark Proctor respectively.

Rhys Davies and Matt Lister comfortably won the Mens C2 class by a margin of 52secs.
