Jim Krawiecki has released his second sea kayak guidebook, 'Northern England & Isle of Man' Peak UK paddler, Jim Krawiecki has released his second guidebook, 'Northern England & Isle of Man' describes 50 Great Sea Kayak Voyages.
From the Mersey to the Solway and the Isle of Man in the West and the Humber to Berwick in the east, 'up north' is described in Jim's own inimitable style. Industrial areas and the wilder landscapes are described with the same care and attention to detail. The result is a wealth of varied sea kayaking voyages to suit all tastes and abilities, from easy sheltered paddles to testing offshore passages and everything in between. Indeed, what sets this book apart form other adventure guidebooks is the inclusion of 'urban sea kayaking' routes. The book guides the reader through the tidal waters of Liverpool and Newcastle-upon-Tyne. There is even a trans-Pennine route that links the Irish Sea to the North Sea via the Rochdale Canal through the heart of Manchester. The research for this route is well documented in the Kayak Coast 2 Coast blog -
Coast to Coast
In addition to the usual important information needed to plan a trip recommended cafés, pubs and chip shops are strategically located to provide sustenance at the end of your trip. Detailed tidal information also allows the book to serve as a valuable inshore pilot for other water users such as anglers, windsurfers and sailors.

The author Jim Krawiecki - Jimskiblog
Jim was brought up and still lives in south Manchester. He started paddling in any old kayak he could muster during the school holidays. He has since paddled (and swum) many of the exciting white water rivers of England, Scotland and Wales, as well as many of those in the French Alps. A passion for sea kayaking combined with an interest in writing and photography, gradually led him into writing the 'Welsh Sea Kayaking' guidebook.
Over the last 4 years Jim has spent most of his weekends and holidays paddling, researching, photographing and writing about the fantastic coastal scenery covered his latest book. As well as describing the classic coasts of Northumberland and Yorkshire, it is hoped that this guidebook will open up some of the less well-known shores like the Durham Heritage Coast, Cumbrian estuaries and the Isle of Man.
