Fiona bags Silver at Slalom Worlds in Prague!

The Slalom World Championships went off last weekend in the beautiful Czech capital Prague. As usual it passed in a complete blur of action (particularily the party!) but heres some of the highlights.

It was a very welcome return to form for Team GBR as a whole and in particular Peak UK athlete Fiona Pennie who bagged the silver medal in a very hotly contested womens kayak race.

Peak boys David (not Dave) Florence, Dan G and Stu Mac ripped up the C1 team race to take a well deserved Bronze medal. David and Stu also finaled in the incredibly tight individual race finishing 8th and 10th respectively.

Campbell Walsh reversed the form book for the year to take the Bronze medal. Campbell absolutely killed it on 2nd runs to come back from tenth place to third and as anyone who saw the TV footage will agree he is truly the paddlers champion.

Elsewhere the PeakUK C2 boys Smith/Bowman and Baillie/Stott gave it a good go and finished 7th and 8th respectively. Two GB C2s in the final for the first time in history! In particular Nick Smith rose from two days of illness to charge his runs in a heroic if slightly dazed style.

Richie Hounslow scored a personal best 15th place showing some of his domestic pace on the international circuit for the first time this year.
