Slovenian Peak UK team member Andrej Bijuklic reports back from his NZ trip.

When you return home from a trip you always say the same words…. "this is the place to go" and New Zealand isn’t an exception. Hot weather, lots of water and good friends make the islands something special for me.

After a good warm up on the North Island paddling some of the classic rivers, like the Kaituna and Wairoa we were ready to hit the South. The west coast is the place for extreme paddlers. The helli runs like Waitaha, Kokotahi, Whitcomb and Perth did not disappoint me. The weather was on our side and the water level was perfect, what more can you ask. To finish the trip in big style we paddled the North Island’s infamous Aratiatia rapids.

New Zealand enchanted me with its natural differences, from high cold peaks to hot beaches. A kayaker has to fight with this extreme nature and the only way to be dry for me is to wear the gear from PeakUK.
