A Day at the Races

Peak UK Team paddlers Georgie Pink and Jen C report from their day out into the slalom world at Stafford and Stone this weekend:

We may not have come away with gold, but we won the hearts and minds. Donning our favourite onesies and a lady’s must – the moustache necklace, we commenced our bank-side warm up in style, bringing shouts of abuse from the local boys club football team.

The stretching moves clearly paid off however, as Jen swooped in to claim victory in the Ladies K1 Div 4 category with her unique laid back style to slalom gates. Unfortunately the rather restricting effects of the outfit seemed to have affected my runs as I not only got the most impressive wedgie, but was also impressively beaten by a junior girl in the C1 class. My custom made pink paddle and pink helmet were however, the clear winners, which is all that matters on Ladies Day.

An amazing day out was had by all and a proud moment for everyone when Jen received her prize of a Stafford and Stone fine bone china mug. Thanks to Gaz, our coach and chief cake buyer, and Kat for showing us and the crowd how things are done properly. A fine start to the season.
