The British surf kayak championships took place in LLangenith, South Wales and was a very well organised and well supported event. Despite difficult conditions in qualifying Dan Green progressed quickly through qualifying and found himself up against the current world no 3 Nathan Eades and world champion Dave Speller in the semi finals. An aggressive style of surfing in which a number of big manoeuvres were executed saw Dan progress to the final along with Nathan.

The final was a bit of a mixed bag with difficult conditions and a hard fought competition between Dan, Nathan, Philip Watson and James Hawker both from Cornwall and two well established and decorated athletes from the surf kayaking scene. With great rides from all athletes it was hard for the judges to decide an outcome but after 15 hard minutes of paddling Nathan ended up in 4th position with Dan 3rd, James 2nd and Philip in 1st place taking this year's crown of British Short boat champion.

"It was a very well organised contest with a large amount of the worlds best present, showing what can be done in a kayak. This is one of my best results to date and a great reward for all the hard work put in chasing waves around the country" says Dan

It was also a great day for Tamsin Green who was competing in both the long boat and short boat class. A solid performance in the long boat category saw Tamsin stomp her mark on the competition and take 1st place, leaving just the short boat category to go and faced with some strong competition and large waves it was a challenge for all the ladies and with the massive surge in technical ability, not going to be an easy final. Despite this and with a new boat from sponsor Mega Kayaks Tamsin rose to the challenge to finish British no 1 and complete the double which put a huge smile on her face after a season fraught with injury and back up there on the winners podium.
