This years Etive River Race saw a whole bunch of kayakers from across the UK descend on the banks of the River Etive in Scotland for one of the most extreme races on the UK calendar. Good weather, decent water levels and an abundance of Red Bull allowed those entered to put in strong competition and battle it out to get their name on the most prestigious cheese board in kayaking. The Sponsored category saw tight competition from the likes of Team Palm, Pyranha, ‘Run and Jump’ and our very own Peak UK representatives, Tom Wakeling and Jen Chrimes, fighting it out for a respectable cash prize. It was a close race and with the times not being published until Prize giving it was time to get the Fluxedo's on and head to the bar…

Results were in and team Peak UK had finished in a respectable 6th place being the first mixed team to cross the finish. After a spot of confusion Team Palm, Ed Smith and Tidy Matt, were moved to the Sponsored category placing them 2nd leaving the third fittest fireman and famous Bob in 3rd place. Which meant that last years winners Milton & Scutt the Pyranha duo had once again bagged the top position in a time of 11mins 8 secs!

The Open event saw a whole bunch of spangly new kit being awarded to the top teams Disco Beaver in 3rd and Hopoke’s Obese Hamster in 2nd. The White Water Active boys, David Bain and Anton Lippek, put in an awesome performance stealing the show with a cracking time of 11mins 1sec beating the top Sponsored teams and proving size isn't everything…

Massive thanks goes out to the event organizer James Fleming, all the Safety crews, time keepers and helpers for ensuring the event ran smoothly and the two lovely ladies at registration.
