Pringle in Norway
After one month in the UK I felt it was time to get back out of monkey island and head over to Norway. Mainly as there is a great wave here for training on in preparation for Thun which Katya is working hard towards and I'm training for anyway for practice even though I don't get to compete (due to being in Uganda for Team Selection).
I got here one week ago after a 2500km long drive across Europe that took 33 hours so when I arrived I was ready for a very big sleep, as was my car I think.
The next day I got on the water for the first time. Great wave where any move is possible, very clean cold water and beautiful surroundings with an awesome campsite right next to the wave is a kayakers paradise here.
On the way here I was expecting the wave not to nearly be as good as it is. Is left sided mainly but both directions work here. Its quite fast and steep and when its the right level and you hit it right you can throw pretty big moves. For me I have been getting nice rides with some good back Panams, Cleans & Airscrews and my paddling here getting
better and better as I get more used to the wave and more used to surfing a wave again after my small break from waves since Uganda.
Now here more and more paddlers are ariving for training so is a good communtity of paddlers here now.
It looks like a Creeking paradise here so I feel a little bit disappointed I couldn't bring a Creekboat with having a full car already (4 people + 4 playboats) but am hoping to borrow some bigger boats to do some rivers in the next couple weeks so fingers crossed.
Check back soon for Video of our training and more photos.
